Check Me Out!

dsc03211Last Saturday night I went to the Ontraio Reign Hockey Game “Pink at the Rink”! Not only was it a great family event, we had a group of 20 in attendance, but it was also a fundraising event for the Mary Kay Ash Foundation which supports research and help for breast cancer.  The players all wore jerseys that had pink stripes, that were raffled off after the event with the proceeds going to the foundation.  It was exciting to be among so many other Mary Kay Consultants and fans and also to be part of a very worthy cause.  After the event I walked out of the stadium and they had two pink Cadillacs parked on display.  I decided to have my family take my picture

The owner of the beautiful pink Cadillac, Dana Cornalino, came out and opened the car so I could take a picture inside.  She also took a picture with me and gave me a lot of encouragement.  She told me she earned her car by doing 2 classes or 8 faces (and no more than that) a week.  She said that she has been in Mary Kay for 4 years and is making over $10,000 a month.  WOW!  She gave me her card and said she teaches a class once a month on how to get a Cadillac like hers.  Everyone in Mary Kay is so go-give which means we all share our ideas and help everybody be successful.  I can’t wait to take the class.  Thanks Dana, you made my night.

Mary Kay Ash!

ONE OF THE  GREATEST FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS IN AMERICAN HISTORY!

Charming. Spirited. A one-of-a-kind success story. Over the years, there have been many successful business leaders but none as unique as Mary Kay Ash, Founder of Mary Kay Inc. Her accomplishments left an unforgettable mark on American business and opened the door for women around the world to experience success on their own terms.

“You can do it!”

These words embody the very spirit of Mary Kay Ash and the Company she created. It’s the spirit she learned as a child growing up in Hot Wells, Texas. When facing new and daunting tasks, her mother encouraged her with, “You can do it, Mary Kay. You can do it.” Mary Kay Ash did more than embrace this empowering spirit – she passed it on through a remarkable company that would inspire millions in generations to come.

That company story didn’t begin until Mary Kay Ash faced a situation all too familiar to women. After 25 years in the direct selling business, Mary Kay Ash resigned her position as a national training director when yet another man she had trained was promoted above her – at twice her salary. Her response was visionary. At first, she started writing a book that would help women gain the opportunities she had been denied. But soon she realized she was creating a plan that would do much more than give advice. It formed the foundation for a new opportunity where women could develop their talents and achieve unlimited success.

“I envisioned a company in which any woman could become just as successful as she wanted to be. The doors would be wide open to opportunity for women who were willing to pay the price and had the courage to dream.”

So in 1963, with her past experience, her plan and $5,000 in savings, Mary Kay Ash enlisted the help of her 20-year-old son, Richard, and created Beauty by Mary Kay. It was a first – a company dedicated to making life more beautiful for women. It was founded not on the competitive rule but on the Golden Rule – on praising people to success – and on the principle of placing faith first, family second and career third. It was a company, as Mary Kay Ash often said, “with heart.”

“The success [of Mary Kay Inc.] is much, much deeper than just dollars and cents and buildings and assets. The real success of our Company is measured to me in the lives that have been touched and given hope.”

Today her vision, her courage and her unwavering spirit continue to bring women the opportunity to achieve their potential and bring their dreams to life. With more than 1.8 million Independent Beauty Consultants throughout the world, Mary Kay carries on the legacy of Mary Kay Ash – inspiring, enriching and empowering women to do great things.

This women and her inspiration motivate me everyday to be the best mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend I can be.  I can’t imagine doing anything else!

Habits

Well, I obviously have some work to do on my habits.  I have really given this some thought and I do think that changes in my habits will result in me making life changes for the better.  But it won’t happen by itself.  I forgot (yes, forgot) to blog yesterday even though I was on my computer for about 3 hours.  I did spend a lot of time learning new things on my Mary Kay Consultant site but I really want to be a persistent blogger.  I really enjoy reading other people’s blogs and I hope other people will enjoy mine.

So what was I doing instead of blogging?  Well, as I said before, I spent some time learning some new things for Mary Kay.  I also carpooled, yay!!!  I have three kids who go to 2 different Catholic Schools.  My oldest is a freshman at an all girls school about 17 miles form our house and my 12 year old daughter and 10 year old son go to a Catholic K-8 school about 12 miles from our house.  There are 10 “ways” to school each week and I drive either 6 or 8 “ways” depending on the week.  I enjoy driving (most days) and I love the schools my kids attend so it is just a part of my life.  I used to complain about it but now I accept it as time I spend with my kids.  One day in the not too distant future they will be gone in their own lives.

I made dinner and attended a Mary Kay meeting in the evening and got some great ideas and motivation.  All things that had to be done but not moving me closer to my goals.  I just have to try again tomorrow.

How are you doing on your resloutions?
